A recent study of 3000 five year olds found a positive correlation between soda consumption and increased violence. Children who consumed 4 sodas per day demonstrated twice as much hitting, destroying property, or fighting as non-soda drinkers. In addition to sugar content, Red dye #40 and Yellow #6 contained in many sodas have also been correlated with aggressive behavior. Correlation does not prove causation, but it might be sensible to minimize soda consumption for children to decrease both obesity rates and violent behavior.
