A recipe for a Holy-Macaroni-This-Is-Guaranteed-To-Make-All-Your-Family-And-In-Laws-So-Jealous-They-Turn-Green-With-Envy turkey. (No.....seriously!) PREP: 1 cup of Salt 1 cup of Brown Sugar 3 quarts of Chicken/Turkey Stock If you are using a whole turkey, get a 5 gallon bucket and stir all this together. You will put the turkey in the bucket (make sure its clean...) and depending on the size of the bird fill your bucket up about half way with the concoction. Place the turkey into the brine breast side down. Make sure the turkey is completely covered in this solution. Cover the bucket with aluminum foil. Your supposed to turn it half way through (We didnt) If it is cool you can place your turkey in the garage or a back room. You can set it out on the back porch but you would want to place it up out of the way so your critters cant get in to it. Let it set over night add some ice before bedtime or place it in the refrigerator. The next morning rinse your bird off and dispose of the brine as its wonderful job is done. Prepare your bird as you would normally with whatever spices you prefer and cook it as per the instructions. When you are ready to brown the bird, pour about 4-6 ounces of a Coca-Cola over the Turkey. Soak all the exposed surface of the bird and you will get this amazing golden brown Norman Rockwell looking bird. IT DOES NOT CHANGE THE TASTE OF THE MEAT. There is no consequence to the final product. Just baste it with Coca-Cola thirty minutes before the Bird is done. By the way this is the only time you will need to baste this bird... PERIOD! Thank you, David and Sue.
