A relatively unknown online news portal called banglamail24 has deliberately twisted the words of Dr. Hasan Mahmud MP to create a sensationalist and dishonest headline where they claim that the Central Publicity and Publications Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League said: গাজা হামলায় বিএনপির যোগসূত্র থাকতে পারে. However, when one opens the actual news, the words said by Dr. Hasan are revealed as: গাজায় হামলাকারী ইহুদিদের সঙ্গে বিএনপির যোগাযোগ থাকতে পারে। গতবার যখন ইসরায়েল গাজায় হামলা চালালো তখন তারা ক্ষমতায় ছিল। আমরা বিরোধী দলে থেকে সংসদে শোক প্রস্তাব করি কিন্তু তারা রাজি হয়নি। এখন হামলা হচ্ছে সেই বিষয়ে তারা নীরব ভূমিকা পালন করছে, যা প্রতিনিয়তই ইহুদিদের সঙ্গে যোগাযোগ থাকার প্রমাণ দিচ্ছে...বিএনপি নেত্রী কেবল নির্বাচনের সময়ই ইসলামের কথা বলেন। এখন নিরীহ মুসলামনের ওপর ইসরায়েল যে হামলা চালাচ্ছে সে সম্পর্কে কিছু বলছেন না বরং উল্টো তত্ত্বাবধায়ক সরকারের কথা বলছেন... আমাদের আওয়ামী লীগের পক্ষ থেকে সাধারণ সম্পাদক শুরুতেই এই ন্যাক্কারজনক হামলার প্রতিবাদ জানিয়ে বিবৃতি দিয়েছেন। অথচ বিএনপির কোনো দায়িত্বশীল নেতা এ বিষয়ে মুখ খোলেননি।. Reading the news before sharing would make his words seem very clear actually. He makes a reasonable claim (even if it appears far fetched), based on circumstantial evidence, that BNP may have relations with the Zionists. Nowhere has he said that BNP has connections with the current offensive in Gaza. Those are two very different things. And carrying that headline therefore, was misleading, dishonest and very unprofessional of banglamail24 As for what he said regarding connections with the Zionist lobby, apart from the points made by Dr. Hasan, I can also add that the same lobbyist handling matters for BNP in Washington are also seen handling matters for American Israeli Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), the biggest Israeli lobby in USA.
