A remarkable story appeared today in Israeli press. At a time when Israelis living in the south are hesitant to return to their daily lives after 2 months of Hamas rocket assault, one Israeli company made a big announcement. Hazera Genetics, an Israeli company that developed many well-known types of vegetables and fruits (such as the long tomato – ‘Antonella’, the pineapple-melon, and the mini watermelon), is about to establish an R&D center right next door to Sderot, which has been under intense fire from Hamas rockets. This 5,000 square-meter center will be a $70 million investment, and create over a hundred new jobs! To say that this is a vote of confidence in Israel is an understatement, and is another great example of economic patriotism.
