A reminder about Zakat al-Fitr (its different from Zakat al-Mal (2.5%)). Zakat al-Fitr is due on every member of the family (so if your family is 5 ppl then give it 5 times) & it is 1 saa of food (such as barley or dried dates) per person. It should be given & distributed BEFORE the Eid prayer (so try not to pay the masjid the morning of the Eid prayer as it wont be distributed in time). Its the equivalent of only a few dollars so it shouldnt be a burden either (check w/ your local masjid for the exact amount) [not a hadith] Allahu Akbar!
