A repair project along part of Beechburg-Wallingford Road (KY - TopicsExpress

A repair project along part of Beechburg-Wallingford Road (KY 3301) in Fleming County will restrict the highway to light, local traffic only beginning next week. The repairs – a full-depth roadway reclamation – will take place from the 3.4 to 5 mile markers on KY 3301, which is between the turn at Beechburg and a half mile past the Colgan Road intersection on the KY 559 (Wallingford) end. Beginning Monday, July 21, contractors will remove all asphalt and supporting material underneath that section of roadway, then add cement to the mixture to build a stronger road base. Once the mixture cures, a one- to two-inch layer of blacktop will be added to the surface. Due to the extent of the repairs and the time needed for the cement to cure, KY 3301 will be closed to all through traffic – especially heavier traffic such as log trucks, cement trucks or other commercial vehicles – from July 21 until approximately July 31. During that time, the roadway will be open only to local cars, pickups and other light traffic, although delays are possible during construction. A detour for heavy traffic using KY 559 and KY 57 will be marked. Road work schedules are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, slow down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
