The pictures show workers, the rows of little piglets killed in passing and throw into overcrowded carcass tons. This publication triggered a wave of indignation and a broad discussion of: Do consumers accept such treatment of animals and this is the price they want to pay for cheap meat? These questions are the starting point of a month-long research of the two authors Monika Anthes and Edgar Verheyen. In their report they go into the question of whether it is at the brutal killings piglets to the unfortunate failure of individuals or whether the system behind it. Through exclusive undercover research, the authors can document, under what circumstances million piglets bred in Germany or rather produced and cover serious violations of the Animal Welfare Act on.
