A republic and a democracy are identical in every aspect except one. In a republic the sovereignty is in each individual person. In a democracy the sovereignty is in the group. Ask yourself this: Can only a republic guarantee individual natural rights, rights of a minority just allowing the majority to have an advisory role? Can only a democracy guarantee individual, minority, civil rights (privileges) granted by a condescending majority? - Does it have to be just one or the other ??????????????????
