A resolution to approve an agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation for a traffic signal at Hwy. 174 at Commons Drive is on the Oct. 20 Burleson City Council agenda. A traffic impact analysis for the new Kroger grocery store in the Burleson Commons Development indicated the need for a traffic signal at the new intersection of Commons Drive at Hwy. 174. The developer of the project, Cullinan Properties, is responsible for the cost and installation of the traffic signal because it is necessitated by the development. To both meet the timing needs of the Kroger/Commons Drive project and have a more seamless project overall, City staff has worked with TXDOT and Cullinan Properties to work out a Local Transportation Project Advance Funding Agreement which will be fully funded by the developer in a pass-through arrangement with the City. The developer issued a check to the City on Oct. 14. That check will be forwarded to TxDOT if council approves the resolution.
