A response from the Romanian government regarding the reopening of International Adoptions! Can i humbly ask to pray for this and share with family and friends that there will be a reopening of adoptions for the 70 thousand orphans ! Dear Mrs. Popescu: Your letter addressed to us at our institution, registered under nr. 2344/July 7, 2014, in which you sent us a series of proposals regarding changing the current legislation in the area of adoption is responded to as follows: In conformity with the stipulations in article 5, lines 1 and14 from the Government Executive Ordinance nr. 11/2014, regarding some measures of reorganization on the administrative level, the National Authority for the Protection of the Rights of the Child and for adoption has taken over the responsibilities of the former Romanian Office for Adoptions. One of the objectives of our institution in the following days is to analyze the cauzes for the series of difficulties encountered in adoption procedures and to identify adequate solutions which will help overcome these problems. We have consituted a working group to evaluate the current law and how it is being implemented. At the end of this evaluation, the group will formulate a series of proposals which may modify the legislation in the area of adoption. The proposals will also be carefully evaluated and to the degree that these proposals correspond to established objectives, and to the international obligations to which Romania is party, decisions will be made with regard to the inclusion of the working groups proposals in future legislative projects.
