A sabbath day dawned fairly nice but the horizon carried deep blue - TopicsExpress

A sabbath day dawned fairly nice but the horizon carried deep blue clouds with the promise of moisture. Weather in our world is changeable. Today was 40 degrees and as we traveled to the farm it began to rain. As rain is somewhat of a dampener ;) on our current projects I decided wed get chores done and go visit a lady who Ive chatted with a bit that lives a little bit north of where we drive to the farm. So I checked the cows and found a new calf. He was a bit chilly so I used the four wheeler to scoop him up as momma was not impressed with my handling of her baby. Took him to the warming room for some toasty time. Fed Denali and the other animals in there. Went up to goats and alpacas and hauled hay and water to all. Everyone was okay. I took two of my alpacas and out them in a small room on grainery thats a bit warmer as they are slightly thinner than Id like and want to feed them a bit more and get them a bit more weight. Completed caring for all and went down to feed cows. Took calf out to mom which was bit of a challenge as she kept walking away. Finally got her in barn and calf in opening so shed have to walk by him to get out. Finally she sniffed him and started licking. So hoping he will suck by morning. Would have liked to give him More warm time but have to balance that with his need to get milk from mom and her need to bond with him as well. Mixed up some bloat concoction and gave some to three of my girls that were a bit rounder in the belly than if like to see. Praying theyll be fine in morning. Headed to visit a lady who has a family of llamas shed like to rehome. Am trying to get a couple for a friend who recently lost her guard llama and considering taking the rest as the other members of her family dislike them and wish them gone good or bad outcome for them. Saw them from a short distance and they appear to be quite nice llamas. Met her goats that she uses to feed her bottle calves and they are obviously well loved. Talked with her about disease testing and pregnancy and other things. Enjoyed meeting her and seems like a caring woman. Will most likely be taking the llamas and working on selling their fiber so they can contribute to their care. The blue is the photos was not the blue of the sky but the blue of the rain clouds. Me Brutus was looking quite regal today. He is my Suffolk ram and incredibly gentle and kind. Sunset was lovely as the rain clouds were breaking up and the blue was actually the sky. This week is supposed to be warm but by next weekend we are going to be cold again so we have limited time to accomplish as much as we can.
