A sad ending to the ladybug egg laying episode I chronicled earlier. When I went out to show the eggs to my son this evening, there were only dried-up yellow wisps left. I have to conclude that the sun must have heated up the metal pipe to a high temperature, effectively destroying the eggs. Although ladybugs apparently abandon the eggs after laying them, I happened to see a ladybug nearby when I discovered the tragedy, and wondered if it was the mother. So sad.....
