A sample prayer for us today based on Davids prayer in Psalm 141: Oh God, I cry out to You! You are my fortress, my refuge, my God, in whom I trust. I put my hope and my confidence in You alone. Father, hear my cries for mercy and justice! I am Your child and You are my Abba, my Father, my Daddy! Please hear my cries and answer me swiftly! Let my prayers, my cries and my sacrifices of worship be sweet and pleasing to You. First, set a guard over my mouth and a watch over my lips so that I will speak only right things. Oh God, teach me to be slow to speak. Put Your words in my mouth and stop me from speaking things that are not holy and pleasing to You. Turn my heart towards You, Lord! Fill me with a hunger for holiness, a passion for purity and a thirst for righteousness. Cause me to love what You love and hate what You hate. May every wicked way be repulsive to me so that I will not be tempted to walk in an unholy path. Instruct me Lord! Teach me Your ways! May my heart be teachable and submitted to You and to the Godly counsel and correction of others. I long to walk in humility! I want instruction and correction in my life. Send correction to me when I begin to go in a wrong path, Father. My prayer is for Truth that prevails against the deeds and wicked actions of the unrighteous. Fill my heart with a righteous indignation against all ungodliness so that I will intercede and cry out to You for justice and Truth to prevail over wickedness and deception. My eyes are upon You. I choose to trust You with all of my heart and I refuse to lean upon my own wisdom and understanding. So, according to Your Word, direct my steps, give me discernment and keep me from the traps of the enemy. Have mercy on those who have turned away from Truth and bring them under the conviction of Your Holy Spirit that they may turn from their evil ways and come to You.
