A scientist at the National Microbiology Lab in Winnipeg preparing Canada’s experimental Ebola vaccine for shipment. The Government of Canada will ship 800 vials to the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva, beginning on Monday. The vaccine must be shipped very carefully, so it will be sent in three separate shipments as a precautionary measure. It will travel via specialized air courier, packed in dry ice and kept at -80 degrees Celsius. The vaccine is the result of over 10 years of research and innovation by Public Health Agency of Canada scientists, and it could be a promising tool in fighting Ebola. We are sharing this global resource with our international partners in support of global public health.
