A screaming victory, for Valkyrie the almost-dog!!! At 8 months the teeny-bopper puppy already runs many miles a day, so now her biggest challenge is to stay mostly still for many hours at a time calmly inside our bedroom on rainy days (without peeing or crapping on the floors, to be absolutely blunt). Our private quarters with a small outside enclosed deck are one thing, but then we didnt dare set her loose inside Valhallas Main House due to all the damage she could potentially cause within seconds... until today. This morning Joker the small cat was unmercifully torturing Valkyrie through the sliding glass doors as she understandably went insane trying to get at him. By afternoon I was mad enough myself at our dear little (scheming, evil!) cat to finally open the doors into the Main House itself to let Valkyrie do what she needed to do! Cut to the end of the chase: Tonight I found Joker and his much bigger brother KK lounging on a dining room chair, very content, with Valkyrie resting her head on their laps while wagging her whole body in sheer joy. She wasnt barking or chasing them for once, and every once in a while one or the other of the cats reached up and slapped her very hard with a padded paw to help her stay still, I would have never believed that such an energetic puppy-dog could be even partially tamed by a completely paranoid forever-kitten (Joker), plus a much larger housecat (KK) who has in fact been run over and stymied by Valkyrie so many times in the past. But, there they all were, one large fur-ball all together: one out-of-control-puppy finally and very happily submitting to two house cats. Good dog Valkyrie, and many thanks to Valhallas two cats who finally decided to not just take her seriously but also teach her a few manners at last! And so went Valkyries first time in having access to the Valhalla Main House tonight. A victory for sure!!!
