A search resumed on Saturday for my friend Oscar Burnside and his plane who went down November 7th north of Wasaga Beach. I was on the beach all day Saturday, where some of Oscars belonging and parts of the plane washed ashore on November the 8th, but no luck. The OPP boat Thomas P Coffin out of Midland did a grid search starting about 2 miles off shore from Woodland Beach to Jacksons Park boat launch just south of Balm Beach. They covered an area of about 1 mile towards shore and about 8 miles long with side sonar. Hopefully the winds drop later this week so a search can continue towards shore. I feel he cant be far off shore as clothing wouldnt float that far in the 18 hrs after the crash. I feel the plane is still mostly intact as there has been no sign of fuel leaking and little debris washed ashore. We need closure sooner then later as the ice banks in that area will rip the tiny plane apart over the winter as well as remembering the whole ordeal again in the spring. Were all having a hard time with this and the Gales of November Remembered when Mother Nature wont co-operate.
