A self styled guru Rampal Maharaj in is recently arrested. He is accused of ordering his disciples to fire on villagers during clashes in 2006 in which one person was killed and scores injured.He also faces contempt charges for ignoring orders to appear in court more than 40 times. ndtv/article/cheat-sheet/i-am-sorry-about-followers-deaths-says-arrested-guru-rampal-10-developments-623351 Now as I was reading the news, one thing caught my attention, Rampal who considers himself an incarnation of the 15th-century mystic poet Kabir Did he claim REINCARNATION OF KABIR? This is the simple take away lesson for us. This reincarnation business is very dangerous one because it often is clouded by delusion of the self, psychological projection. Anyone who claim to be a reincarnation is obviously more close to falsehood than truth, even if we give reincarnation of soul a benefit of doubt as a process of the souls journey. Why is that so? Take the example of Rampal. He claiming to be a reincarnation of Kabir. But who gave him the right to say that Kabir is the identity of that soul? If reincarnation is true, Kabir was something else in his past lives, right? So those who claim I am reincarnation of XYZ, they are putting limitation on the soul. Who gave us right to put claim on soul? Its what remains after a shipwreck is yours. Even this soul is not ours, so its an obvious ignorance for someone to claim tags on soul and who say I was XYZ in past life. No matter how certain you are, you saying this makes the claim invalid because that soul even didnt belong to Kabir or Rama. Indeed we are Gods and to God we return. Inna lillah wa inna ilaihir Rajiun. And on top of that its very prone to delusion than anything else. Hence its much wise spiritually not to project in past in delving with reincarnation, rather its wise to work on the self that is here and now. May Indians be free from such fake gurus and so called god-men.
