A severe weather *WATCH* means that conditions are favorable for severe weather events (winds AOA 58 mph, and/or hail 1 inch or greater in diameter, and/or tornadoes) within a particular area. A watch does NOT mean the event is occurring, it just means conditions are favorable. A severe weather *WARNING* means that severe weather events are occurring (either observed by spotter or by radar), or they are imminent. A *WARNING* means action should be taken.
