A short break from the construction progress to talk beer...fancy - TopicsExpress

A short break from the construction progress to talk beer...fancy that, right? Below are a list of brew ideas to add to our four staple recipes for opening day. All we need is your help to pick the crowd choice. Read through the recipe and comment with your favorite/pick. Next Monday, the style with the most votes will make the brew schedule. West Coast-style Pale Ale: A hoppy counterbalance to our American IPA. We’ll keep the bitterness low, the ABV around 5% for maximum quaffability and load it up with piney, citrusy hop flavors and aromas. Roggenbier: A very unique, low ABV style of beer from Germany. Think Hefeweizen brewed with rye instead of wheat. You’ll get some nice rye spiciness, a solid backbone of crystal (caramel) malts and some delicious banana and clove flavors from the yeast. Hearty yet refreshing. Dunkleweizen: Lovely banana and clove flavors from yeast, with added complexity of dark caramel and roasted malts. Low ABV, little hop character, tons of flavor. Somewhat similar to a Roggenbier. Hoppy Amber Ale: Amber ales are widely enjoyed for their simplicity and quaffability. A low ABV with semi-sweet caramel and toffee notes combine with a nice toastiness to provide just enough maltiness to keep you interested without overwhelming the palate. In this case, we’ll also add a healthy dose of flavorful American hops to swing the balance toward a Pale Ale character. Old Ale: A big, massively flavorful malty beer. These beers are meant for sipping slowly (or aging!) and are perfect for the impending cold weather. We’ll target an ABV around 9%, and you can expect very complex malt character of toffee, dark fruits (plum, cherry, fig, etc) and a touch of roastiness. ----chose wisely----
