A short documentary about one of the unsung heroes of the Korean War. As I read in the email of the person who sent this to me...In these times of cynicism, anti-religious feelings, and church scandals, it is too easy to forget what Christianity is really about and we need to see again the stories of those who live it out fully in their lives. While a POW, his Chinese guards abused and mocked him, telling him that God must not exist because he was not being rescued from his plight. Father Kapauns response was God is as real as the air they breathed but could not see, as the sounds they heard but could not see, as the thoughts and ideas they had had or spoke, but could not see or feel. As he was being led to the camp hospital, a virtual death sentence since soldiers hardly ever returned from there, the last words his fellow comrades heard him quote those famous words of Jesus Christ - Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. Kapaun died at the hospital in May, 1951. Father Kapaun has been recommended for Sainthood in the Catholic Church.
