A short piece about how well (or not), horses read subtle body language cues from humans. This study found that horses aged 3 or younger were able to follow a cue given by a human if it was a gestural prompt (pointing) but could not if the cue involved body orientation of the human or eye gaze. Horses are adaptable though and develop these skills as they age. Just something to think about when handling young horses.
