A short story by Stephan Olivier, In Traffic Startled by a grunting growl passing you open window, you couldnt even hear your song on the radio or what your friend said on the phone! Damn bikers driving between cars you probably sit and think, trying to text on your phone. Another one comes what you feel is speeding by, while youre stuck in traffic. Cursing at him or her swaying out at some cager not looking where he or she was driving. Judging that biker with his helmet and armored suit thinking they can do what they want on the road. Like a samurai masked and fearless looking so invincible on that two wheels. Ever wondered why we ride so impulsively through traffic or rev our bikes while going pass you whos so busy on the phone when you drifted just that little bit off your lane? Have you ever seen why that biker had to sway out of the way to stay alive while you were in thought? Dont be so quick to judge cagers, were trying to get to work or home to our families, nodding at those who see us coming or give way where others wont. That nod is actually a thank you for seeing me or a grateful father, sun or daughter for sharing the road with me. Were dressed up like samurais not to look all butch and fearless, but to be protected for that split second when things go horribly wrong. We pray while were driving, not just for you to see us, but to get safely where were going. Where praying that God will protect us all on the road. You, cager, have you ever seen a motor vehicle accident and gone to lengths to find out if the injured are okay? Visited a complete stranger in hospital, or even attended some stranger who has passed away on the road? If you have, then your heart is at the right place and you would probably be called a biker at heart. Please look out for bikers on the road and please, I beg of you, use your indicators and dont forget to cancel them after changing lanes? We are constantly observing, watching, trying to predict what your next move will be, looking out for you. Think before you quickly change lanes or stop suddenly. You will see at your next red robot when a biker stops next to you and you greet him or her that a smile and nod will be waiting through that samurai armour. Think twice and save a life. Were all Gods children!
