A short video of the lone, young swan at the pond after her parents and three siblings were able to fly out over the 10 foot high thicket of vines and briars. The parents left with first, two of the young for a saltwater cove. They came back for the remaining two a day and a half later. But only one youngster was able to clear the thicket. She was alone on the small pond for nearly two days. I hacked down the thicket at the north end of the pond to where it was only 4 ft over the water surface rather than 9 or 10 feet. I took this video with my cellphone shortly after Rosie had made a practice flight the length of the pond. I hacked down the shrubs that afternoon, and that evening she was able to fly out through the opening I had created, and escape to the saltwater cove to look for her family.
