A simple magnifying glass would be very valuable in starting a fire in times of disaster. A field guide on edible plants would keep you from starving, as well as some line, and an assortment of fishing hooks. But the most important thing in the days to come, is a preparedness to die. For regardless of how, all man kind will die, and then judgement. If in Christ, we will be judged righteous by His shed blood. If not, a catastrophe is the least of your problems. Hell to pay without Christ.
