A simple tribute to my Quasi- adoptive fathers funeral: I drove - TopicsExpress

A simple tribute to my Quasi- adoptive fathers funeral: I drove from Bismark on the day of Albert’s funeral at about 9 am and hit an immediate white out due to blowing snow. That lasted until about New Salem. I stopped in Glen Ullin and looked at Oscar’s old house. They are taking good care of it. I posted pictures of it on facebook, that you can see. I also stopped in Hebron and took pictures of William Phillip and Lousie Heinle graves. I also took pictures of her mother’ s - Sophie and Gotlief Sayler, and some of her family’s graves, (Edwin Sayler and Leopold Sayler to have the dates for the family tree. I also took pictures of Elmer’s first Hebron house, and his 3rd Hebron house and garage. I then drove by and saw Lousie’s home. It is two colors. One side is Brown the other is purple. I stopped by and took pictures of the Brick yard and old garage where Mr. Zimmerman made those great 1/16th scale model Wagons complete with horses and riders. The funeral went well, as Dwayne and I talked a lot about Albert and things we did together. They asked me to say a few words about Albert and I agreed. I had made notes the night before in case they asked. I talked about how he was kind of my adopted Father having spent far more time with me than my real Father. I talked about he took a city kid and taught him hunting and North Dakota values. How he purchased by first bow, and taught me how to hunt Pheasants with a 410 shotgun. I explained I have hunted and fished every year of my life since then. I talked about how he loved his work, and how he taught me to be proud of what ever work I do, and to do it well. I talked about his honesty and how I hope that I passed on those same morals and traits to my children. I explained it was because of all that he gave me that I maintained contact with him even though he and Isabell never married, and that I was glad he was a part of my life.
