A small help for SAD (seasonal affective disorder) and diminished sunlight---at least it works for me. Being a child of the south, now living in the north where winter nights are long, I have trouble waking up and getting in gear. 1..find: What they call daylight cfl bulbs, highest wattage you can find: Lowes. The level youre looking for is 6500 k in a screw-in lightbulb. 2. A swag light kit. Lowes lighting department. You may have to ask. 3. A simple peg-type timer. 4. A cheap outdoor lantern-style light, with option to hang vertically, rated for the bulb size. Assemble the light and swag kit to hang in your bedroom. Set the light to come on at the appropriate wake-up hour. You will wake, not to a buzzer that frays your nerves, but to the conviction you must have overslept a bit---and a good deal more positive chemistry going on, without the adrenaline rush of being scared out of your skin. Set up some interior lights with this option. If your kitchen has regular fluorescent, get some T-8 fixtures with, again, the daylight bulbs. 6500 k also grows plants nicely, so what you brought in for the winter, again with this sort hanging above them, on timer, will serve two purposes.
