A sneek peak at the Friendly House 79th Annual Tamale Festival and Dinner at the Arizona Center in Phoenix!!! This was the event to close the summer out and ,ALL THE TAMALES SOLD OUT,from 15 different resturantes including Bitzi Mamas, Mannys, Carolinas, Sombreos, Mi Comida, Sylvias, Coaches Corner, Friendly House Kitchen and many more!!! The Mayors from throughout the valley and City Councilman were the Official Judges and did a great job selecting among all the contestants. The Mayor Stanton Award went to Somebreros from Scottsdale and the Overall Tamale Champion went to Mi Comida on Bell Road!! There were tamales from all over the world including a chocolate tamale that was the judges choice. Numerous Officials joined in on the judging like Mayor Rebecca Jimenez of Guadalupe, Glendale City Councilman Sam Chavirra,Avondale Mayor, and councilman from Tempe and Chandler! The Entertainment was stacked like tamales including Fayuca,Quetzal Guerrero,Vox Urbana,Rosies Kids and Ballet Folklorico Quetzalli from Chandler and Primavera Dance Group of Phoenix.
