A snippet from the Branson Tri-Lakes News (article by Joshua Clark): Mickey Gilley celebrates 25 years in Branson Mickey Gilley, owner of 17 No. 1 hits on the country music charts, will be celebrating his 25th anniversary performing in Branson at a special 2 p.m. show Sunday, Oct. 5, at the Mickey Gilley Theatre. The event is open to the general public, and a limited number of tickets still remain. This is going to be a huge show, complete with national entertainers, special videos, mementos, lunch, and of course, the man himself. The first half is set to serve as a tribute while the second will be all Gilley. “The contents of the show are a total surprise to Gilley,” said Gilley’s publicist, Marlyce Stockinger. “Gilley has done so much for others and now it’s time for all of us to show him appreciation for all he has done not only in the Branson community, but the music industry, as well.” In addition to the 17 No. 1 hits, numerous Grammy and Country Music Association awards, Gilley is a star of both the big and small screens and even has his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. While there are many folks in town I have relationships with on several different levels, I consider Gilley to be a friend. I worked at Gilley’s Texas Cafe for many years as a young man, and I’ve golfed with him, broke bread with him, attended funerals and was even lucky enough to get a personal invite to his first show back after a fall that nearly left him paralyzed in 2009. This should be a great event and I’m as excited about it as I am about any other on the horizon. bransontrilakesnews/entertainment/article_ccd6630e-48f3-11e4-b9eb-f775fee0213c.html
