A social commentator, Mabvuto Bamusi, has backed proposals by some presidential candidates for #Malawi to seriously consider putting restrictions on the number of children per family as a control measure to the population boom. Experts say the country’s current population of 15 million is expected to grow to about 40 million in the next 20 years if strong measures for controlling the birth rate per year are not put in place. There has been concern that the continued rising population is what is holding the country back in terms of development due to the strain on public resources.
