A soirée is an evening party or other gathering given usually at a private house, especially where guests are invited to listen to, play, or dance to music. It was extremely popular in the previous centuries before the introduction of radio and television. It is a tribute to Hawk Liu who has, for the past decade, continued this tradition in Singapore by regularly hosting a group of talented singers and performers in his own home. Tonight lived up to the usual high standard. There was opera, operetta, classical piano, musical theatre, tango, jazz, etc. One of the singers sung "Broken Vows", a song popularized by Josh Groban, and is one of my favorites.
