A solid showing this weekend at the Surf Madonna 5k/10k in Encinitas this afternoon. Great race weather and a great cause. A hand full of elite athletes came out to test their fitness in both events. Racing on hard packed sand slowed the final times, but that didnt stop So-Cal Elite from continuing to make their presence know in southern California. In the 5k, Rosa Del Toro cruised her way to victory crushing her competition. On the Mens side, Juan Paredes had another hard fought battle and finished with the 2nd fastest time of the day. With the big money in the 10k today, both fields were stacked. The ladies had two taking care of the pacing in the front. Natasha LaBeaud Anzures and Katja Goldring took charge and never looked back. Going toe-toe for the majority of the race, Natasha pulled away the last 800 meters to take the win with Katja a close 2nd. Lisa Öhberg, moving up in distance yet again, took the 3rd spot as well as a racing herself to a solid pr. In the Mens race, Eli Rodriguez continued to impress as he had his hands full. That didnt stop him from racing to a personal best and taking 3rd. Luis Dorantes, showing he will be ready to roll at Club Nationals, was 4th with a gutsy effort. New SCERC member Anthony Heredia proved that he is ready to represent the team as he placed 6th respectively and a pr by 2 minutes!!!!!!! Four weeks until the big show!!!! #BenditlikeOregon
