A special congratulations to my friend and comrade Musa Kika who has just been conferred with the highest and most prestigious academic honour in the African continent, the Mandela-Rhodes Scholarship. Kika is on his was to completing his Bachelor of Laws degree summa cum laude at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (where he will graduate as the best overall LLB student), and will utilize the Mandela-Rhodes to read for a Masters in Constitutional and Administrative Law at the University of Cape Town. My brother, I do not have the words to describe how happy and proud I am of you. All I can say is that among the many lessons which young people should learn from you is that ones intellectual abilities are greater when put to use for the benefit of all. I will always remember the long hours we spent together working tirelessly on many progressive initiatives (and at times - mostly in my case - failing miserably at it) and trying to make a difference to society (not least the hours put into founding the UKZN Student Law Review which you have continued to take to heights we could never have initially imagined).
