A special occasion speech I wrote for my public speaking class - TopicsExpress

A special occasion speech I wrote for my public speaking class thats dedicated to the seniors Ive encountered this year. The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet. I wonder if the philosopher Aristotle was in school himself when he uttered this incredible statement. Education Is the key to life’s finer things and the beautiful part is that this key is attainable by everyone under the sun. As soon as we come out the womb we embark on this journey into the unknown and slowly grasp the concept of life each and every day. And once we have blossomed into the self-sufficient beings this journey throws you in an educational system that gives you a taste of things to come before you ultimately go off to college. And although you have spent all this time preparing for what you believe you’re going to encounter, it still manages to become a new beginning. It’s as if the author of your life story caught a writing cramp and decided to start all over. For four years you find yourself meeting new people that you wish you’d met much earlier in your life. You find yourself broadening the horizons of your mind as you begin to think in ways you’ve never thought before, and question why you once had certain mentalities in your past. For 12 semesters you have your mind pushed beyond unfathomable limits and you may want to quit more than ever. You question whether or not you want to stick with this major because e a class is not what you expected or you heard bad reviews from fellow students. For 192 weeks, you fins the strength to carry on. You come up with goals that you know for a fact you will reach because you’ve come entirely too far to go back to your hometown empty handed. You remain resilient because you simply refuse to be anything less than unconquered. And as those 32,256 hours tick away you become an entirely different person from experience alone. Yes, you have grown and you realize you are proud of the person you’ve become. You have taken 4 long years molding yourself into an individual that is ready for the world. College prepares you hop into whatever it is that you are going to be doing for the rest of your lives and that isn’t limited to just careers. You are finally prepared to be the person that you will be for the rest of your life. With all that being said, I would like to congratulate our seniors for their valor and resiliency. You guys have fought the good fight, laughed at the obstacles thrown, and my favorite, left an impression. As an underclassmen that aspires to one day be in the position that you all are in, I can confidently say that my time is coming because I’ve had the pleasure of watching the upstanding individuals before me. History is, and will always be, written by the victor. So, I hope you all have your pens ready because you victory is here and no one can take that away from you.
