A special story from ILCs Eco Club is begging to be told ... A couple of weeks ago, Tim Silverwood, CEO OF Take 3, visited the Junior and Secondary Schools to talk about the importance of keeping our oceans clean. Hosted by ILCs Eco Club, he spoke passionately about how microplastics (small pieces of plastic that have degraded from larger pieces) are polluting our oceans, killing our wildlife and being ingested by fish - thereby entering our food chain - with unknown consequences. He urged us to think global but act local and said that if every Australian picks up 3 pieces of rubbish, that’s 69 million pieces gone! Tim asked us to reduce the amount of waste we create and when leaving our beautiful Sunshine Coast beaches, to pick up 3 pieces of rubbish - Take 3. Immanuels Eco Club presented Tim with a cheque for $550.00 which will go towards furthering Take 3s environmental programs. Thank you to Year 12 student and Eco Club President Jane Millroy, mentor Mr Rod Blom and the rest of our student body involved in Eco Club.
