A special time last evening honouring our ancestors and receiving our UE certificates for our Loyal lineage. As I was asked to give a toast at the annual dinner of the St. Lawrence Branch UELAC - I thought I would post what I wrote/delivered along with pictures of my family, who received their certificates: A Toast to Our Ancestors In 1784, at the dawn of a new and uncertain life, little could our ancestors, displaced by revolution and starting anew in untamed forests, have imagined a gathering such as this. 230 years on, we, who search for and come to know our ancestors, are the guardians of their history; we are duty bound to honour them by ensuring their story echoes through time, passing from generation to generation. We were the dream for which they sacrificed so much; we, their descendants, are their legacy. Let us raise our glasses and give thanks to those who laid the foundation for the life we now enjoy. To our Loyal ancestors! L-R: Linda Lalonde (AKA: Mom), Ronald Eamer (Uncle), received certificates of descent from Loyalist, Peter Eamer Me, and William Bill Seymour (Mothers cousin, my first cousin once removed?), received certificates of descent from Loyalists: Donald McDonell, John McDonell, and Duncan Grant In all, 27 certificates were issued to a number Loyalist descendants!
