A state senator who was among a small group of Republicans to vote against a right-to-work law two years ago is accused in a lawsuit of failing to pay his own workers more than $220,000 in wages and other benefits. Sen. Brent Waltz is contesting the lawsuit, saying he was never an officer or owner of Indianapolis Diversified Machining. He says he was an outside adviser. The records indicted he owned a fifth of the company, served as chief financial officer, and received more than $60,000 a year from the companys payroll. The companys bylaws list Waltz as an owner.
