A statement from Clergy who care about Justice: Communities - TopicsExpress

A statement from Clergy who care about Justice: Communities across the nation are saddened and outraged at the injustice seen in the decision not to indict the police officer that killed Michael Brown. This action continues a narrative of injustice that seems to suggest to young Black and Latino youth that their lives don’t matter. We need to send a strategic, non-violent message to our nation that says that this system of injustice is will no longer be tolerated. We will not allow this system to continue to de-value the lives of our young people. Rather than harm our own communities through violence, rioting and looting, we choose to harness our collective economic power to say to the nation that we demand change! African American spending is expected to hit $1.1 Trillion by 2015. We need to make an economic impact on this nation in such a way that demands attention to our needs and concerns. We therefore ask every person to BOYCOTT BLACK FRIDAY, and absolutely abstain from any shopping or commercial activity from Thursday-Saturday, except for spending currency with minority-owned businesses. If you agree with this, please share this message with those in your social networks using either or the following hashtags: #BlackOUTFriday #BoycottBlackFriday It’s time for us to put action behind our words and feet to our faith! Let’s make our voices heard until we change the narrative and bring real justice to our nation.
