A statement has appeared headed “Proposed Names for the new NEC members”, claiming that the Agang SA President Dr Mamphela Ramphele has stepped down. The party is in fact reconstituting its executive and Dr Ramphele has not stepped down. The statement further proposes the role of “acting President” for Michael Tshishonga. Tsishonga as Agang Chairperson and Leader of MPs in Parliament today makes clear: “I know nothing of the claimed dissolution of the Agang Executive. I am not, and do not intend to be the acting President. We have one President, Dr Mamphela Rampele, and I remain committed to being part of the team that is building the Party, and distance myself from those trying to destroy it.” He continues: “I call on all those who want build and focus on the positive to affirm commitment to our movement and its values. The Task Team Dr Ramphele announced yesterday will do its work expeditiously, and put the Party on a sound footing to live the values of respect for human dignity and to have the capacity to enter the municipal elections in 2016.”
