A story: CrossFit Fenway hosts a fitness competition once each - TopicsExpress

A story: CrossFit Fenway hosts a fitness competition once each year. Traditionally, it is planned for teams of 3: 2 men and 1 women, each with challenges programmed for typical competitive athlete profiles. This year one team had 2 strong female competitors and 1 man. They asked if they could enter anyway. Since we dont *really* care about gender, we said sure - they could enter as long as two teammates took on the male weights and range of motion standards, and one teammate went after the female weights and range of motion standards, to keep the competition evenly balanced among all the teams. The same work would be done, regardless of the gender identity of the people completing the work. That team came in today and won the whole damn event. I am enormously impressed particularly with the effort of Danielle Resha, who was dauntless in her assault on the heavy male standards and outperformed many of the men in the competition on her way to a great team victory. It felt really great to hand over first prize to such a dedicated team of athletes. It was an outstanding event! The 3rd Annual Beantown Throwdown! was a great success thanks to Eric and Mandys planning and the hard work of all the amazing CrossFit Fenway and CrossFit Somerville volunteers. Many congratulations to Jared Monaco and CrossFit Route 1s team that took first place.
