A story for my FB friends: A couple of mornings ago I was sitting in my deer stand and a hawk flew up and landed in a tree just a few feet from me and started calling very loudly and constant. A few seconds later I heard another hawk a ways behind me start calling in the same manner. So, I turned to look over my left shoulder and leaned out around the tree trunk to see what was going on... As I looked, it took me a couple of seconds to realize what I was seeing, but the hawk behind me had taken off and was gliding full speed, wings fully spread, straight at my head. When I finally realized what it was, I jerked my head back, literally a split second before he would have nailed me right between the eyes! And as he flew by his wing actually brushed my left shoulder... I dont know if he ever saw me or not, but I just about fell out of my stand...(I also just about said a bad word...). The very first thought I had though, was, Ive got to call my dad and tell him about this... Because that is what he and I always used to do whenever something unique or cool would happen to one of us when we were in the woods... But I quickly remembered that I wont be able to do that anymore.. But even though I cant call him anymore, I already know exactly what he would have said... He would have told me, Jon, you know you just wont see stuff like that Sittin around in front of a TV. And I have found that to be true over and over... Lot of cool stuff God gave us to enjoy out there in this beautiful world... Hope all of you are taking the time to truly enjoy life during this Christmas season :)) #Wisdomfrommyfather
