A story that must be told... Last weekend at the conclusion of NFTY CANOe Winter Kallah, I was helping to song lead the closing friendship circle. Imagine almost 250 high school students and dozens of staff surrounding the perimeter of a very large sports center. This is where the seniors cry because it their last combined event together, the freshman get attached to NFTY, and the staff realize they made it through another weekend alive and not duct taped to a tree! During one of my favorite songs, (We were singing John Denvers Leaving on a Jet Plane), Byron came RUNNING into the middle of this giant circle...arms completely unfurled! It felt like he was in slow motion!! I saw him coming from the center of the circle and dropped slowly to my knees so he could hug me...He arrived and threw his arms around me. Many of the people in the circle let out a collective, aww And then I stood up and kept playing and singing..and he ran out of the circle. It was like all things in life that are beautiful. Unscripted, spontaneous and real. It was like something you would see in a movie. It was a special moment as a parent. What can I say? That is the magic of NFTY!! Thanks Liv Richardson for capturing the moment! Did anyone get the hug on film? (I know what you are asking...What is this FILM stuff you are talking about??) I meant did anyone photograph the exact moment when he got to me? :) #CARscrapbook #GonnaLiveAndDieNFTY
