A strange, mixed sky awaits this Christmas eve morning - dark, bruised looking clouds sliding down from the north - bruised looking, because - despite their weight and density - there are traces of the deep blue beyond still visible behind them from time to time, which colours them in a way I havent often seen... The weather prophets spoke last night of the remnants of the wet weather front thats been plaguing the north passing southwards before leaving these shores - and leaving us with blue, if colder, skies at some point today - so I spose this is some kind of transition point - although how long that transition takes remains to be seen! For the moment, though, we have light, fine raindrops - so tiny as to be almost invisible - falling onto the skylight below me, barely causing a ripple as they mingle with the pond thats already there, and adding a lustrous sheen to the rooftops over the way... A pair of blackbirds just came and perched precariously on the skeletal tree at the bottom of our garden, swaying this way and that as the capricious wind blew the branches in swirls and spirals - it must have made them feel a bit seasick, because they didnt stay too long - just enough to have a quick look round for any tasty breakfast morsels before they darted off during a calm spell between the gusts that come and go in irregular anarchic bursts... The clouds above have thickened again, now, reminding me to dig out the armour plated brolly before I venture forth into the melee of last minute shoppers later - perhaps I should add some steel plated leggings to spare me from the ruthless trolley bashing grannies, grimly battling for the last of the brussels sprouts... Bon courage, mes amis - and good luck out there! :¬}
