A strong and well attended sit in protest was held in old university lane opposite Krishna Nagar, by BJP workers and residents under the leadership of Yudhvir Sethi, Incharge Jammu Poonch Parliamentary Constituency against the inaction of Jammu Municipal Corporation, health department and the administration in the area. The area spanning from the Old University lane to Government Fishery Farm, Ward No. 19 had been under more than five feet high water and had inundated every dwelling house in the area. Most of the house hold goods and rations and other eatables of the residents were destroyed due to this unprecedented calamity. All roads and the lanes in the area have got clogged due to slush that has been deposited by the flood waters. Speaking on the occasion Sethi said that it is extremely unfortunate that the flood waters have receded long back but the administration is nowhere to be seen to remove and clear the area of the mud and the slush to enable the people to move around so as to bring back their lives on the rails and normalcy. In spite of the assurances extended by the Jammu Municipal Corporation, nobody has bothered for the suffering and plight of the local people whose lives are in danger because of the health problems arising on account of the filth lying open in the area. No health camp has been held in the area nor has any disinfectant been sprayed to prevent epidemics. Sethi demanded that people should be provided with free rations and other essential supplies for some time and the revenue authorities should survey the area to assess the loss individually suffered by the residents. .................................
