A strong arctic high pressure system is building into the eastern two-thirds of the country following a quick deposit of snow today from the Midwest eastward into the mid-Atlantic States. Temperatures are dropping rapidly after sunset and we will wake to very cold conditions by Thursday morning. With cold air flowing over the relatively warm waters of the Great Lakes, lake-effect snow will be prevalent.
