A strong low pressure system will provide rain and periods of heavy snow to the Rockies. One to two feet of snow will be possible at higher elevations, while mountain valleys at lower elevations will not experience as much snow accumulation. Gusty winds will also occur, especially along western facing mountain slopes. Moisture coming off of the Rockies will feed right into the central and upper Midwest, as rain and thunderstorms will cover the area. Nebraska and Iowa will be closely monitored on Thursday as severe weather will threaten the two states. Thunderstorms will also linger along eastern Texas and the lower Mississippi Valley throughout the day today.
