A student asked me a question today. Student: “Good lawd Dr. Smith, it is too hot out here! I know you are burning up in that suit! Every time I see you, you have on a suit. Why do you dress like that in this weather?” Response: “...because SUCCESS has a dress code….think about it. I am trying to set an example young brother.” Summation: More men need to do a better job of providing our “young men” with better examples of how to properly appear in public. Even some professors come to work looking as though they just rolled off the garbage truck. I am so perplexed by this! One does not have to be a “fashion icon” but how about at least shaving each day, shower each day, iron your clothes; how about coming to work looking like you at least looked in the mirror. How can we end the “sagging” epidemic if we do not provide an appealing alternative to these young men? Young brothers should see older brothers and think, “Yeah, I’m feelin that! I’m trying to get on that level!” MILLENIAL Rattlers set the standard!
