A study conducted by the Medical University of Graz in Austria found that the vegetarian diet, as characterised by intake of fruits, vegetables and whole-grain products, appeared to carry elevated risks of cancer, allergies and mental health problems such as depression and anxiety. Rephrase: one [1] study has found something [not quite clear what] it didnt expect and that seems to show something most people [for no plausible reason at all, really, apart from massive propaganda] probably dont find completely intuitive. Big news! Id like to see the study confirmed by other studies, and the chain of causality explained before I believe any of this. I sometimes wonder whether journalists - who often like to depict themselves, not as the newsmongers they are, but as the shining white knights of democracy - shouldnt have some professional ethos when it comes to science reporting. It appears they have none.
