A study has shown that reflexology is as effective as clinical aromatherapy for symptom relief in cancer patients. In fact, patients who were on the trial requested more, or more frequent, therapy! Great news. Here is what one of my clients who had cancer and was having chemotherapy had to say about her reflexology treatments with me: I visited Georgie for reflexology shortly after I was diagnosed with cancer and undergoing chemotherapy. I suffered from nausea quite significantly, and hoped to ease some of these symptoms. Georgie was extremely attentive to the overall situation and took a full history of my diagnosis and my medical treatment, to ensure she complemented this and identified the best approach to ease my nausea. During the reflexology sessions, I was completely at ease, and the opportunity for time out and relaxation was priceless. Whilst I think it was inevitable that I continued to experience some nausea during my treatment, I came to recognise the importance of relaxation to help control this, even outwith the sessions. I have bounced back so incredibly quickly after finishing chemotherapy, which I attribute to having had such good rounded, holistic treatment which included reflexology. As a medical doctor myself, insight into the benefits of this complementary therapy has influenced me quite significantly beyond the personal benefits.
