A subject I see getting a lot of attention on Facebook right now ..... and an issue sure to come up as long as we need and have police. The Comments are interesting - your thoughts ? Im pretty sure there will also be resistance to body cams, and that the debate will go on awhile. In the meantime I think there are other possible remedies to police excesses, that should also be pursued, including : - Improvements in police training to favor non-violent over violent intervention wherever possible - Corresponding overhaul of police organizational culture - Biting the fiscal bullet to allow adequate pay and staffing for police Im a psych nurse, and in that field most of my professional life since 1979. During that time, Ive seen measures like these have changed staff behavior and attitudes dramatically for the better. They also make a huge difference in how patients see and respond to us.
