A subversion of democracy is taking place in St. Kitts & Nevis - TopicsExpress

A subversion of democracy is taking place in St. Kitts & Nevis says Dr. Timothy Harris. Harris, the leader of the coalition opposition in St. Kitts-Nevis who holds 6 of the 11 seats in that countrys Parliament, articulates that a Motion of No Confidence is a critical charge and should be dealt with expeditiously. He says the St. Kitts PM Denzil Douglas government is holding on to office illegitimately. Motion of No Confidence ignored for an unprecedented 103 days by the Douglas regime. Now my FB friends, this crucial issue is allowed to fester in the country where the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) is domiciled and worsr yet it is still being ignored by our CARICOM leaders. Here is an excerpt from the Judges ruling on the matter... The Learned Judge said “under this system of Government, the term of Prime Minister and his Cabinet is only validated by the support of a majority of the elected members of the Assembly. It is the mandate of the people, through the elected representatives that the Prime Minister and his Cabinet is given the right of government. By a number of expressed provisions, the Constitution expressly stipulates that if a majority of the elected Representatives vote in favour of a motion of no confidence in the government, a Prime Minister and his Government will cease to have the right to govern. The Constitution expressly not only provides that on such vote the Prime Minister is to either resign or else parliament is dissolved, but it also expresses an urgency that should follow such a vote of no confidence.
